    What Causes Sleep Apnea?

When you have sleep apnea, your breathing actually stops multiple times throughout the night. This may happen because your brain is not sending the right signals, or it could happen because tissue is blocking your throat.

Some factors, such as being overweight, may increase the likelihood that you will develop sleep apnea. However, sleep apnea can happen to people at any weight, and lifestyle changes are not always enough to control it.
