One the first day that I requested the sleep study, there was a unit available and I took it that weekend. I received my results roughly 2 weeks later. Once I confirmed that I wanted to proceed with CPAP therapy, I went to my normally scheduled LowT Center visit and they performed my Mask fitting. I had my CPAP machine and mask that day as my clinic had stock in each item. I ended up switching from the under the nose pillow to a full mask as I found that I opened my mouth too much when I slept. I informed my clinic and I was fitted for a full face mask the following visit.
In the first three months of CPAP therapy, I received a call roughly every week at the beginning to assist with strategies to help me adjust to wearing a CPAP mask. Once I started to acclimate to the wearing the mask at night, the follow up calls started to decrease in frequency. Each time that the folks that monitor your progress called they were very nice and informative.
I have definitely noticed a difference in sleep and energy level when I use my CPAP machine. There are times that I do not use my machine (mostly when I’m having nasal congestion issues) and I can definitely tell the next day. My wife also notices and will wake me up to tell me to put it on due to snoring. Basically, she didn’t know I had such an issue until the CPAP therapy took away my snoring and she was sleeping better. Overall, the therapy works very well and has had a positive impact on both my wife and my sleep.
