Can Hypothyroidism be Treated?
There is no cure for hypothyroidism, but with treatment, it can be managed. Treatment of hypothyroidism can eliminate all symptoms, but you will need to be monitored to make sure your thyroid levels remain within normal ranges.
How We Diagnose Hypothyroidism
As part of our men’s health assessment, we do a full blood panel. This simple test can tell us whether you have hypothyroidism or a number of other conditions. There are two types of hormones you may be low in that are causing a drop in your hormone production, commonly known as T3 or T4. We’ll look at the results of this test along with your overall health to determine what course of treatment is appropriate for you.
Hypothyroidism Treatment
The most common type of low thyroid treatment for men is an oral medication. You will most likely need to come back to Low T Center every three to four months for monitoring and follow up. It is important to us to ensure that you are getting the right treatment after our diagnosis. Following up also allows us to optimize your hypothyroidism treatment. Since we take a holistic approach to health, you may be treated for additional conditions alongside your low thyroid treatment.
Benefits of Thyroid Treatment
While there is no cure for low thyroid, treatment is very effective and can reduce or eliminate your symptoms rather quickly. For example, hypothyroidism causes a slow metabolism, which in turn makes you gain weight. Once you start treatment for hypothyroidism, your metabolism should start working more normally, making weight loss less difficult.
With hypothyroid treatments, you should be able to regain your energy and vitality. Your focus should return, and your moods should even out. We may be treating other conditions along with your hypothyroidism, including those that may be related, such as high and high cholesterol. You should start to see improvements in all of your related symptoms with treatment.
Whether we are treating you just for hypothyroidism or you have several other conditions that need to be treated as well, at Low T Center, we will take a holistic approach to your health care and address all of the underlying conditions that are causing your symptoms.
