What is included in a Men’s Physical?
A men’s physical exam can establish a baseline of health and identify the underlying causes of any issues you are having with your health. At Low T Center, this exam has two parts. At the first appointment, you’ll fill out a health questionnaire and have your blood drawn. At the second appointment, we’ll discuss your responses to our health questionnaire, the results of your blood test and conduct a physical exam. We will also discuss any health concerns you have.
What’s Included In a Men’s Physical Exam
A number of tests and procedures are standard as part of the men’s physical exam that we offer.
Health Questionnaire
We’ll use a questionnaire to get information about your health in a variety of health categories. Your responses will result in what we call a Vitality Score, which is our way of tracking your overall health and well-being.
Blood Pressure and Vitals Check
We’ll do a series of simple and routine checks that nevertheless offer us important information. A check can help us determine if you have high or are at risk of developing high . High cholesterol may also be the first thing that alerts us to a number of other conditions. While most cases of hypertension in adults do not have an underlying cause, high cholesterol could also be an indication that you might have other issues.
A vitals check also involves getting your temperature and heart rate as well as examining your breathing.
Bloodwork
Bloodwork at Low T Center can detect a number of different conditions including diabetes, high cholesterol, low testosterone and low thyroid. With bloodwork, we can also check your liver function.
Lipid Screen
A lipid screen also involves testing your blood, but it specifically looks at your cholesterol levels. High cholesterol can be dangerous and lead to a number of serious conditions, but there are no symptoms associated with it, so this is an important test. If you do have high cholesterol, we’ll put a treatment plan in place to help bring your cholesterol down to a healthy level.
Body Mass Screening
A body mass screening helps us determine whether you are at a healthy weight. Being overweight is a risk factor for a number of conditions, so we may talk to you about how to reach or maintain a healthy weight, including a plan for exercise and eating well.
Other Tests
Some conditions may require additional testing.
Our goal is to offer health care that is thorough but efficient. We know that you are busy, and we want to make our services as convenient as possible.
