3 Sources of Healthy Fats to Keep You Fit and Healthy

    Posted: October 7, 2015

When we are trying to get fit and healthy, it’s tempting to stay away from fats altogether. We think that all fats are bad, and if we dare eat a fat, it will ruin any chance of getting fit or losing weight.

What is lesser known, however, is that we actually need fat in order to be healthy. The key is not to avoid all fats, but rather to choose the right fats — and eat them in moderation. To help you choose the right kind of fats, here is a list of foods with healthy fats that can benefit your overall diet.

    Avocado

This is probably one of the most famous healthy fats. Avocado is a super fatty fruit. In fact, it is one of the fattiest fruits and veggies around. Fortunately, avocados are full of the healthy kind of fat. Slice them up and eat them raw, make them into guacamole, pair them with a healthy breakfast — it is easy to add them to your routine. About a third of an avocado a day should do the trick.

    Nuts

Yes, nuts are super healthy and a great source of protein. Along with that, they are also a great source of healthy fats. All nuts, from almonds to walnuts, contain some healthy fat. One of the fattiest nuts is also one of the most popular: peanuts. Eating a handful of peanuts or a scoop of peanut butter every day can give you a healthy dose of fats to keep you strong and fit. Just be careful not to overdo it, as peanut butter can be packed full of calories.

    Eggs

Eggs are another great source of healthy fats. The fatty part is the yolk, so make sure that you don’t skip the yellow goodness. Eggs are easy to add to your diet. Scramble them or fry them for breakfast. Boil them for a snack. Chop them up and put them in a salad. Add an egg or two a day and get the perfect amount of healthy fats in your regular diet.

Luckily, we don’t have to give up all fats in order to stay healthy. We just have to choose wisely. It’s not about eating zero fat; it’s just about eating the right kind. Use these foods as a guide for picking the healthiest fats for your body, so that you can stay fit, healthy, and in the best shape ever.
